chrysanthemum by kevin henkes was one of my favorite books as a child. i read it in first grade, and i read it and other kevin henkes books to my former kindergarten teacher's classes when i was in like 2nd and 3rd grades (because she would always let her former students go back and read to her current ones and i LOVED to do that). i'm pretty sure kevin henkes visited my elementary school sometime while i was there as well.
